Weekend Review

It's been a really good Memorial Day weekend. There is something about Memorial Day that just screams, "Summer is here!" I am very excited about the summer, but also know it is going to be super busy. We are doing a ton of stuff in the children's ministry this summer and I am anxious to see how I can handle everything, along with a baby.

But, for now, I will rest in the greatness of this weekend. Friday night we used, for the first time, our church's Parent's Night Out program. It's pretty self-explanatory, but for just $5 we get babysitting from 6:00 - 10:30 pm. We went out with our friends Sarah, Casey, and Marcus to Genghis Grill. Afterwards we walked around Barnes & Noble, and then finished the night out with some frozen yogurt at Yo-Yo's. It was so much fun and felt great to go out again.

Saturday Matt went with a group from our church to the Astros/Rangers baseball game in Houston. So, Sarah and I went shopping with Kailey & Parker to the Round Rock outlet malls. They were having some great sales. We also had a nice lunch at Mimi's and then headed home to put our little ones down for some naps. Parker and I played the rest of the day and I went to bed early because I was beat!

Sunday was my 27th birthday. Of course, everyone asks the obligatory question, "Do you feel older?" And the answer this year is, "Yes." I think the reason I feel older is because yesterday was like any other day. I still got up early, fed Parker, changed diapers, cleaned bottles, did laundry, went to church, swept the house, etc. My parents did come up yesterday afternoon and we went to dinner at
BJ's. But, life went on. There was no big hoo-rah. Chores still needed to be done and Parker still needed to be taken care of. And, this, my friends, is why I feel older. Well, and also because now I am only 3 years from 30. Yikes! :)

Today, Memorial Day, has been a nice lazy day. We have some friends coming over tonight and we are grilling hamburgers and chicken legs. Matt made some homemade ice cream this morning and a birthday cake for me (even though I don't like cake). I think the cake is moreso for everyone else. :) I already had sugar cookies and brownies yesterday, so I'm all good.

It's been a great weekend and wish every weekend was 3 days long. It's much more fun this way. :)

New Camera

Even though our anniversary is not until next Friday, Matt and I decided a couple of weeks ago to splurge and get a new camera. We are calling it our anniversary present to each other. It is a Nikon D60 and we love it! We feel like real photographers when using it and take a gazillion pictures with it. And now, here's some proof of our new photography skills:
